The Colonial First State FirstChoice 452 Geared Australian Share Fund adopts the strategy of geraing and to invest in quality companies trading below their fair value. To warrant inclusion in the option, companies must be financially sound, have superior management and a sustainable established business model, as well as be trading at share prices below their intrinsic value, or at least with low valuations compared to the industry in which they operate and compared to the market as a whole.
The 452 Geared Australian Share Fund's gearing effectively magnifies returns from the underlying investments, whether they are gains or losses. The option predominantly invests in Australian companies and therefore does not hedge currency risk.
