| Description |
Investors have the opportunity to become involved in Great Southern's successful flagship plantations project, in both hardwood timber plantations and the agricultural land. |
|
|
Investors can become a part of Australia’s dynamic plantation forestry industry through the commercial growth of hardwood timber plantations. The Great Southern 2008 Future Forestry Investment aims to produce hardwood woodchips, generally considered a premium product with a high fibre pulp yield, for the production of fine quality paper.
Key features:
Investors can participate through two methods:
- Invest as Growers of timber through the Tree Project, or
- Invest as Unit Holders in the forestry land on which the plantations are to be grown through the Land Trust
The Tree Project
- Each Grower receives a Lease Interest over their Woodlots, which are separately identifiable.
- Great Southern Managers Australia Limited acts as the Responsible Entity and will establish and maintain the Project.
- After 8-12 years of growth, the trees will be harvested and sold and Net Proceeds of Sale distributed.
The Land Trust
- Unit Holders will be investing in the land to be used for growing the trees for the Tree Project.
- Great Southern Funds Management Limited acts as the Responsible Entity.
- Unit Holders will receive a share of the rent and land fees as well as 50% of the net proceeds of sale of entitlements.
- The Unit Application Price is $500 per Unit
Key benefits:
- Favourable market opportunity: the demand for paper is expected to rise significantly due to wood shortage in the Asia Pacific region, and also as GDP continues to increase in less developed countries.
- Sustainable environmental contribution: Great Southern aims to protect the regions in operation to leave a positive legacy for future generations. A management team with proven experience in the acquisition, establishment and management of plantations in Australia.
- Flexible options: investors can apply for Woodlots in the Tree Project without applying for Units in the Land Trust.
