Description Become an investor in Australia's booming manufacturing industry through the commercial growth of high value timber.

Participation in the Great Southern 2008 High Value Timber Project allows investors to become growers in one of Australia’s largest manufacturing industries. The Project will produce teak and African mahogany in various regions of Australia to become sawlogs for furniture and appearance grade timber. This is an opportunity to take advantage of strong worldwide demand for plantation grown tropical timber.

Key features:

  • Investors lease woodlots to supply sawlogs, and the Project will provide expected returns from the sale of timber.
  • The term is approximately 17-19 years after planting.
  • Investors are expected to receive returns during the life of the Project as well as at final harvest.

Key benefits:

  • Portfolio diversification – steady international demand is expected, especially from China, India, the USA and Thailand.
  • Risk management – project diversification occurs across the two product types: teak and African mahogany, in order to minimise risk.

Lonsec has given the Great Southern High Value Timber Project a rating of "Recommended".
