The Hunter Hall Global Deep Green Trust invests in Australia and internationally across a wide variety of enterprises which Hunter Hall believes will have a positive impact on human, animal and environmental wellbeing. The Trust will seek to invest in areas such as
- Renewable solar, wind, wave, geothermal, biomass energies, advances in storage and transmission technologies and efficiency gains;
- Technologies which reduce environmental damage, such as hybrid engines, water purification and desalination, waste managemetn and advanced materials.
- Medical services and devices, biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and veterinary care;
- Education, social infrastructure and communications;
- Animal husbandry, aquaculture, fisheries, forestry and agriculture conducted in an environmentally sustainable and humane way; and
- Emerging and esoteric activities and instruments such as microfinance, water rights, biodiversity credits, carbon credits and intellectual property related to DNA.
These are fields that will develop into important new global industries and therefore offer great economic opportunity and excellent investment prospects.
Hunter Hall Global Deep Green Trust has two objectives:
- To earn a good return for investors
- To make a positive contribution to the environmental crisis the world is facing.
Hunter Hall will also donate a substantial portion of the management fees generated by the Global Deep Green Trust to organisations working to solve the problems of environmental destruction and loss of biodiversity. In addition, the Global Deep Green Trust will comply with Hunter Hall's investments screens that will avoid investment in companies that derive revenues associated with the sale of armaments or tobacco, gambling, cruelty of animals, destruction of the environment, uranium mining and exclude any companies domiciled in any country involved in commercial whaling.
