The Rewards Premium Timber Project 2009 gives investors the opportunity to participate in a premium Australian forestry plantation project. The investment has replaced the Rewards Sandalwood Project and the Rewards Teak Project, and combines two high value timbers - the internationally renowned premium quality tropical hardwood teak and Australia’s most valuable timber the Western Australian Sandalwood - both species which continue to increase in value.
Key features:
- Two high value timber species:
- Teak: one of the highest valued plantation timbers; and
- Sandalwood: prized specie native to Western Australia
- Off-take agreements in place for sandalwood and teak sales: off-take agreements secure the sales of all teak poles and sawlog from the project until 2020 and the sale of all 5 year old sandalwood logs
- The project duration is approximately 20 years with harvest years commencing from year 5.
- Single upfront investment amount with no annual management fees.
Each woodlot comprises 0.15 hectares sandalwood and 0.10 hectares teak; Rewards Group will establish and operate the teak plantation in far north Queensland and the sandalwood plantation in Western Australia. The initial investment for this project is $6,050 incl GST per Woodlot with no annual management fees. The Rewards Group have applied with the Australian Taxation Office for an ATO Product Ruling which will support significant tax deductions for this project.
Benefits of investing:
- Exposure to a defensive asset class that has no correlation with market based investments, has low volatility and can act as a hedge against inflation.
- Growing two different premium timbers in one project offers regional, product & customer diversity. This reduces the investment risks and increases overall return.
- Despite the financial market volatility, the value of Teak and Sandalwood has increased substantially.
