Through a wrap account your investments are consolidated in one place. This allows you to access managed funds, shares, cash and margin lending and gives you online access to view reports on your consolidated holdings. The available investment choices allow you to better diversify across asset classes and reduce risk. Wrap accounts also provide access to wholesale managed funds and ‘boutique funds’ that are often not available to retail investors as the minimum investments can be anywhere from $500 000 to several million.
Until recently, investors could only access wrap platforms through a financial adviser and as a result incurred the often unnecessary fees such as sales commissions and exorbitant annual adviser service fees. Ongoing adviser service fees of 1% - 2% pa of the account balance undermined the cost effectiveness of wrap accounts. 2020 DIRECTINVEST is now able to offer access to two wrap accounts - Personal Choice eWRAP and Wealthtrac - without ongoing adviser service fees. We recommend consulting a financial planner on a fee for service basis where necessary, and then remaining free to implement investments without adviser service fees that last the life of the investment.
Please visit the Investor Education area of the 2020 DIRECTINVEST website for more information on investment and superanuation wrap platforms, including their features and some of the differences between investing directly with a fund manager and through a wrap account. |
